Boeing's business planning looking toward launch of 777X

People in New Jersey may already be aware that Boeing's commercial aircraft division believes it will have a new aircraft in service sometime around 2020. The company may even be able to offer the new aircraft to airlines by the end of this year. Launching this new aircraft could be the culmination of several years of business planning.

The aircraft in question is Boeing's 777X, which is rumored to possibly have folding wings, may be able to hold about 400 passengers. Its basic design is being modeled after Boeing's popular 777. The competition to provide better aircraft to airlines appears to be centered around mini-jumbo jets that have a higher occupancy than current aircraft. One of Boeing's customers is anxious to see this newest aircraft.

The company is currently facing a dilemma with the 787 that could potentially delay further development of the 777X. Batteries on two 787's have led to the grounding of all 787's until the problem can be corrected. Once those aircraft are back in the air, the company may be able to return all of its attention to the 777X.

Anytime a company's business planning involves the development, marketing and sale of a new product, there are several factors other than the design and manufacture of that product. There are business and legal decisions to be made regarding the product. Issues such as patents, permits, confidentiality agreements, and the like will need to be dealt with prior to unveiling the new product. Then there is the possibility of having to comply with the laws and regulations of the federal government, along with the laws and regulations of New Jersey. Companies should be able to focus on their creativity and production; having advice and assistance with the remaining issues may allow a company that freedom.
