New Jersey offers incentives to draw in new businesses

One of the most critical decisions that a business owner can make concerns where the person will open the new operation. Many considerations must go into the analysis of where a new business can be successful, because in some situations choosing the wrong location can be fatal to an enterprise's ability to thrive. The state of New Jersey is making efforts to demonstrate that it is the right place for businesses in a certain type of industry to grow -- the state is catering to business and companies in the food production and distribution industry.

For example, a cheesecake producer that has for decades produced its product in New York recently moved to a location across the border in New Jersey. Not only was the business owner able to buy a larger location for his money, but he was also able to expand his business to new outlets and distribution sites. The cost of obtaining operating space in New Jersey is less than in neighboring states, and that alone is an incentive for many food industry companies.

Additionally, New Jersey has offered some food companies other incentives, such as tax breaks, to move into the area. Several major international food producers have recently decided to move their American operations into New Jersey and close down facilities in more expensive, less incentivized locations.

Just as looking for incentives and advantages are important to major food companies, so too are such considerations for smaller business enterprises that just starting out. The right location with the right incentives can help a new business succeed where others might fail. Individuals who are venturing out with new businesses and who desire support as they decide where to locate their enterprises should understand the legal advantages and disadvantages of opening in a particular geographical location.
