The internet's big impact on physical retail space

"The death of the retail space" may be over exaggerating what's going on, but what is undeniable is the impact the internet has had on physical stores and the business models of traditional retailers. A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about the changes in internet domain names and what they mean for businesses. Now we look at it in a slightly different way: how the internet has forever changed the way businesses conduct themselves.

Email trail leads to ex-employee's arrest for trade secret theft

Microsoft is making industry headlines following the recent arrest of a former employee. The ex-employee, a Russian national who worked for the company as a software architect for seven years, is accused of stealing trade secrets related to Windows 8 pre-release software updates and Microsoft's "Activation Server Software Development Kit." He is also accused of leaking the stolen information to an unnamed blogger. The arrest stems from an internal investigation conducted by Microsoft.

Nokia acquisition delayed, global regulatory challenges cited

Behind most every acquisition is the principle that two companies with separate ownership unite and operate under the same leadership to obtain some strategic or financial goal. The internet is a crucial component to a company's success -- and you can either possibly fail trying to fight it, or possibly succeed using it.

Many people in New Jersey know the name Systrum Energy, an alternative energy supplier which has drawn many consumers over to their service. Just one problem: it is possible that Systrum used fraudulent tactics to lure those consumers to them.

Divorce and business: how to protect your company during a split

Many married couples start businesses together, and it can prove very fruitful for both parties. However, should the personal side of the relationship deteriorate, then the business side could suffer as well. That's why it is important for business owners to set themselves up properly to protect their business should a divorce arise. The number of assets and debts that are tied up in a business are very valuable, and the last thing any owner wants is for some or all of these things to go to waste.
