Whole Foods' business planning brings New Jersey more stores

Now that the economy is on the rebound, people are drawn once again to stores like Whole Foods that sell organic and locally grown products. Therefore, the grocery giant's business planning includes a good deal of expansion in the coming years. In fact, within five years, the company plans to add another seven stores here in New Jersey.

Currently, 10 Whole Foods stores operate in our state. Consumer demand for organic foods appears to be growing rapidly. This is good news for Whole Foods, but it also increases the company's competition as other stores respond to consumers by expanding their offerings.

Whole Foods may not have to worry about being pushed out by other grocers, but increased competition in the organic food market has forced the company to adjust its prices. The store's reputation for high prices tends to stop some people from shopping there. As a result, the stores now offer more sales and other incentives to draw customers than in the past.

The company has announced that Marlboro Township is the site of the first new store in New Jersey. The store will open in May 2014. Not surprisingly, New Jersey is not the only state where the company plans to expand. Several stores are currently being opened nationwide.

There comes a point in every successful business when expansion bears consideration. Numerous variables require deliberation before that can happen. Business planning can identify most, it not all, of the issues that necessitate a company's attention before any actual expansion takes place. Addressing these matters ahead of time can facilitate successful growth.
