New Jersey business litigation: When contracts are broken

Businesses in New Jersey enter into contracts with other businesses and individuals every day. As long as both parties keep up their end of the contract, things are fine. It's when one party believes that the other party to the contract has breached the agreement that business litigation arises. For instance, AT&T is currently involved in a contract dispute with Al Jazeera America. Al Jazeera America has taken over the Current TV channel that was previously carried on AT&T's U-Verse. Shortly before Al Jazeera America was to go live on U-Verse on Aug. 20, AT&T pulled the plug on the network. According to the communications giant, it and Al Jazeera America failed to reach an agreement that would benefit both AT&T and its customers.U-Verse currently has approximately five million people who subscribe to the service. However, Al Jazeera America was part of a package to which not every one of those viewers subscribes. It is not known how many customers were affected to the channel being dropped from the U-Verse lineup. Al Jazeera America is a cable news channel that will have the distinction of being the first new cable news channel in the United States since 1996 when Fox News premiered. It probably wouldn't surprise anyone in New Jersey that these two businesses may be heading for business litigation. This contract dispute could potentially cost both companies a lot of money if not satisfactorily resolved. There are many possible ways for this dispute to be resolved, but if the parties are unable to resolve it on their own, taking the dispute to court could help.
