PokerStars business planning includes New Jersey casino

PokerStars has made a plea to the New Jersey casino regulators to allow them to purchase an Atlantic City casino. PokerStars parent company, Rational Group US Holdings, has expanded its business planning include the purchase of The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel. The company has told regulators that it will do what it can for to improve the struggling economy in the area.

PokerStars has the distinction of being the largest online poker website in the world. New Jersey recently passed a law allowing internet gambling, but it still requires action from Governor Christie. Since this purchase could serve as a template for future purchases, the state may closely examine PokerStars proposal.

A spokesperson from Rational Group US Holdings has been quoted as saying that until the deal is approved, the casino will continue to operate as it does currently. If the purchase goes through, the current management will be retained and the casino could provide up to 2,000 jobs for New Jersey residents. Additionally, it will continue to serve New Jersey's economy through its revenues.

Anytime a business decides to expand by purchasing an existing business, a lot of business planning is involved. Before a company can even consider the details of the purchase itself, it may need to do extensive research on both the business and legal aspects of the purchase. As in this transaction, there may be a government agency that has to approve the purchase before it can move forward. There is always the possibility that the government agency could require additional items from both the buyer and the seller prior to approving the transaction or that the transaction may not be approved at all. There is always an element of risk involved when expanding a business, but the rewards could be worth it.
